Hello and thank you for your interest in our school. My name is Marshal Holmes and I look forward to meeting you.

I received my bachelor's degree from UC Berkeley in California where I studied Japanese language, history and culture. I also spent one year studying at International Christian University in Tokyo. While a student at both schools, I often tutored English to Japanese students.

I know how difficult it is for Japanese people to get the chance to use the English they spent years learning in school. I enjoy being able to help Japanese people improve their English and having studied Japanese myself, I am aware of how difficult it is to learn to use another language and I can help you overcome that.

I believe that by learning to communicate in a foreign language, we create many new opportunities for ourselves. I have always had an interest in meeting people from all different parts of the world and I believe that by talking with different people, we can learn more about the world we live in and also more about ourselves. One of the greatest joys is to be able to talk with someone in their language,when they are unable to speak yours. When you can do this, you can make a new friend.

My hobbies include playing drums, music, reading, and of course traveling. My three favorite places to travel are Kauai-Hawaii, Italy,and Okinawa.

Whatever your reason for learning English, and no matter what your level, I am sure that you will have a great time studying English here at our school.

Dean Kakazu

Hello! My name is Dean and I'm from Hawaii. Thank you for visiting our site.

Regarding my background, I received my bachelor's degree from UC Berkeley in California. I also studied in New York and completed the CELTA, which is an internationally recognized training course in teaching English run by Cambridge University. In the past, I've worked as an aerospace engineer and a computer hardware engineer.

I enjoy volunteer work, and while I was in Hawaii, I was a volunteer mentor for the Big Brothers Big Sisters organization. I was very pleased and honored to receive the Honolulu Site-Based Big Brother of the Year award in 2002. I also enjoy playing volleyball, hiking, going to the gym, and I also occasionally surf. As a coach, I would describe myself as friendly, easygoing, supportive, patient, and helpful.

I also welcome students who are interested in studying for the TOEFL or TOEIC exams.  As your English coach, I will do everything I can to help you achieve your goals. Leong Yiu Ki

This is Leung Yiu Ki. I received my Masters in Engineering three years ago. I have been working as an engineer for the past six years in five countries (China, Canada, USA, Mexico, Japan). I enjoyed debating, traveling, learning new languages and swimming.

I was a Teaching Assistant at my university for more than three semesters and have been teaching Mandarin for the past three years in Toronto and Tokyo. I created a teaching dossier as my personalized collection of materials documenting teaching effectiveness.

Besides swimming and learning new languages, I also enjoy cracking math problems and playing bridge. I am fluent in four languages (Mandarin, English, Cantonese, Japanese) and am picking up on my fifth one (French). I look forward to assisting you in building confidence when speaking Mandarin or English.
